HeidiSQL 10.1.0.5550 64bit - Plink 0.71 64bit - Windows 10 Home 64bit

Hello, Ansgar and helpers,

I have thoroughly read GitHub's 521 issue entry and other Plink-related material in this forum and elsewhere on the net. But I have not found any solution for this problem as of now.

I continually experience the recurring error as to be seen within the screenshot, and it does not depend on a specific version of plink.exe (tested: 0.71 (64bit), 0.70 (64bit), 0.60 (32 bit), 0.55 (32bit)).

The command line parameter to invoke plink.exe, as you can see, contains both "-ssh" and "-batch" - I guess this is hardcoded and I cannot change this by myself?

How can we go on from here, or have I overlooked that there is already a solution?

Yes, the ssh and batch parameters are hardcoded. You should try to execute plink yourself, with the same command line, but in your own command prompt window. If you experience the same crash of plink, you probably know how to debug.

But what is this error due to? Under Windows 8.1, the same configuration worked like a charm, and now under Windows 10 it does not?

Okay so far.

And now it does work once I append "... -N -L 3307:localhost:3306".

So, a solution can be that one must have made the connection beforehand once without the "... -N -L 3307:localhost:3306" or whatever you individual configuration might be.

Problem solved for me.

I just edited your plink output to see where the line breaks are.

What happens if you directly use the "-N -L..." stuff?

thanks for the editing ... ;-)

Once I have used plink.exe only one time without the appendix "-N -L ...", I can make the (in my case UNIX-shell-based) connection to the server the database lies on.

And only then is it possible to successfully establish a database connection using this appendix again from the DOS shell or from within HeidiSQL.

Are you interested in the debug log for this?

Please ensure you use the latest HeidiSQL build.

If that does not change anything, you should post more of the debug log here. I suppose there is more than the few lines from above, isn't there?

Ok, this looks like a working tunnel connection, doesn't it? You said you can not connect the first time Heidi fires that "-N -L ..." command, or was that now the second one? If so, please post the log of the non-successful connect here.

P. S.: Maybe i should stress again that the trick was to one-time establish an SSH connection to the MySQL server without the "-N -L ..." appendix using a DOS shell. After that, immediately, the connection using this appendix worked and has been working since using HeidiSQL.

Yes, I am aware of that trick. This is just very odd.

You did not perhaps (like one other user recently did) download putty.exe, rename it to plink.exe and try to use it as a replacement for plink?

no, I used the plink.exe referral from my 0.71 Putty installaiton from within HeidiSQL, so no replacement.

Please just look at the timeout setting for plink, and increase it by some seconds, for testing purposes.
