Several times now I've had HeidiSQL freeze for a moment and then discovered it was sorting. I never clicked on the column names at the top in the data tab! I'm guessing they're some sort of hidden mouse gestures causing this which is obnoxious. How do I disable the mouse gestures from sorting the data tab? I'm working on the bottom row in a table that very has overflow though there are no column headers at the bottom to click hence why I suspect mouse gestures. There do not appear to be any relevant options in the Preferences -> Data tab. I want to keep the click on column headers to sort, I just want the mouse gestures disabled.
Stop unknown mouse gesture from sorting data
There is no such mouse gesture. Your mouse cursor needs to be on a header column and you need to click there to activate sorting. Alternatively, you click the "Sorting" button on the upper right, and add a column there. But that does not even support keyboard shortcuts.
Could you make a video of such a situation?
Ansgar, I've reproduced the issue. There is a horizontal scrollbar, when I click on the "empty" part (to make it scroll to the right or then later back to the left) it triggers the column sorting.
I can send you a video in a private URL, how do I contact you directly?
Thank you, I just got the video and watched it several times. You did not say you were showing the "Sorting" dialog at the top, before you click the scroll bar. That's probably the crux. Not sure why but there must be something triggering the "OK" button in that case.
Is there a ticket for that issue? Can you create one if not?
No, I'm not sorting by default often. I was sporadically triggering this bug though it became quite prevalent once I started clicking to page-left in a heavy-overflow table.
I've paid careful attention to describe where to click on the horizontal or vertical scrollbars and provided a couple illustrations of the anatomy of scrollbars.
It makes zero sense why this would occur as the columns don't even line-up with where the click occurs.
