Filter improvement suggestion

Eessentially what I want to do is this:

SELECT fieldname FROM table
GROUP BY fieldname

Is it possible to add another option in the drop-down under "Quick Filter" called "Group By" => fieldname that does this?

I would imagine there would be some other useful and simple group by functions that would be handy to put in there also.
