Main Connection menu not appearing

When I click on the HeidiSQL icon to open a new connection, it automatically open to the mast closed DB.

In order to get to another DB, I need to Disconnect and then the connection window (see attached) shows up.

A couple of updates ago, the connection window would appear when clicking on the HeidiSQL icon.

How can I get back that functionality?

You probably turned on this checkbox in Tools > Preferences:

Just turn it off so HeidiSQL just shows you the session manager.

How do I get the same tabs that were open at the time I closed the app to come up again when I open it again; making sure that the tabs are from the correct DB?

• That "Restore last used database" just selects the last database in the tree.
• "Automatically reconnect to previous sessions" opens last used connections (sessions), which was your described problem I suppose

Query tabs are automatically restored, unless you disabled that under Preferences > Files.

By the way: I guess you are mixing up "DB" with "session". A "DB" is one of multiple databases on a database server, at least in terms of MySQL/MariaDB.
