HeidiSQL 12.8 gives Bad Handshake to two different Azure MySQL servers

Both servers use SSL without an official certificate. I just downgraded to the last 12.7 release and it works fine. When I try 12.8 I get Bad Handshake on the 2 different servers. One of the two servers is running on a Windows Server that we manage. The other mysql server is an Azure managed mysql instance.
Any idea what changed that I cannot use version 12.8? It does connect if the database is localhost and SSL is off.

In v12.8 you have a new setting in the ssl tab: certificate verification. Set this to No verification for self issued certificates.
