mySQL 8.0 coming up

Hi Ansgar:

I was reading about the upcoming Percona conference and learned about some great new features coming in mySQL 8.0

You may wish to take a look at: http://mysqlserverteam.com/the-mysql-8-0-0-milestone-release-is-available/

The number of enhancements are voluminous and I anticipate they will make mySQL much better in many ways.

Together with the HeidiSQL community's calls for improved support for PostgreSQL and new support for other DBs such as SQLite and Firebird you are clearly at risk of being overextended.

Did you ever consider developing Heidi on Github or a similar service? Perhaps that would generate a bunch of development assistance.

I had assistance in the past from other developers, but never too many. I could anyway not handle more than a few people sending me patches or whatever, in my rare free time. Well, but I'm more open for Github than I was some time ago, so never say never...

@ansgar it will be great information, that heidi will move to github.

I am waiting for that a long time.

I did not say Heidi will move, only I am open for that, so it probably happens at some point in the future :) Well, honestly, I'm always hesitating for effort which don't make the application itself better. I have so few time for HeidiSQL and I'm happy when I can get some small things done and finalized.
