Connection string needed for my testing server.

Can anyone explain to me how to make a connection string on my testing server for MySQL? My testing server is on my local machine and I am running the ODBC 5.1 driver.

I am new to MySQL and I ordered a few books and searched the net all without success. I use Dreamweaver CS5 and I have an c:\inet\www setup on my machine. I placed my SQL database within my testing enviroment and now I would simply like to connect to the database. I made many connections with Access but none with SQL and I am dumb founded. Anyone?
